Wedding Vows: 'I Do'

It’s getting to be that time and you still need to decide on the wedding vows.  This is very important and you do need to make up your mind on those wedding vows.

You have choices when it comes to the wedding vows.  If you are getting married in a church or synagogue you may want to use the traditional wedding vows. You should ask the clergy person at the place you plan to get married if there are any rules or restrictions on the wedding vows.

Thewedding vows are so meaningful that you should really discuss what you want to use and what you want to say.  Your pastor or priest can be of great assistance in helping you with your wedding vows.

Maybe you have thought about writing the wedding vows yourself.  If the officiant has given you the go-ahead then there are some things to think about before you begin writing your wedding vows. There are some questions to consider that will help you write your wedding vows.

Before writing your wedding vows think about how you would define love, family, marriage, commitment, and trust.  When writing wedding vows you should remember the first time you met and what you first noticed about your partner.

When getting ready to pen your wedding vows write down the hobbies and interests you share.  If you are thinking about writing your wedding vows you may want to think about the most important event the two of you have experienced as a couple.

Before you write your wedding vows think about your childhoods.  Were there important things you had in common or big differences?  Maybe there is a poem or song that you both really like.  Would you like to include one of these in your wedding vows?

Is there something you would like to put in your wedding vows that define your relationship in spiritual terms?  Maybe there is a passage that is especially meaningful to both of you.  This passage would be something to consider when writing your wedding vows.

Think about the things you both are interested in as far as personal growth.  You may be able to work this into your wedding vows.  Do you share a common vision of your future together?  This could be a very meaningful part of your wedding vows.

After you have both considered some or all of these questions you are ready to write your wedding vows.
