The Essential Wedding Planner

As soon as you are engaged you will want to start planning the big day.  You will need a wedding planner.  In the wedding planner you will be able to organize and keep track of everything having to do with the wedding.

Go shopping for the wedding planner. You can actually buy a wedding planner or you can use a notebook with dividers.  Another idea for a wedding planner is an accordion file.

If you chose a notebook for your wedding planner you should have a hole punch so you can add magazine pages or brochures to the notebook.  When you choose an accordion file as your wedding planner you may want to also have a tablet with you for taking notes.

You should always have a calculator with the wedding planner.  Carrying carbon paper in your wedding planner is a good idea too.  When you meet with a vendor you can take notes, initial the original and give it to the vendor.  You have the carbon copy to keep in your wedding planner.

As you get your wedding planner organized there are several labels you may want to have on the dividers:

Ceremony:  Keep all your notes about the site where the ceremony will take place and keep it in your wedding planner.  List the music, readings, musicians, bulletin, and fees.

Reception: This may take up quite a bit of space in your wedding planner.  You will need the list of all the sites you are considering and the prices.  If you have music at the reception you may want to include this information in the wedding planner.

Photography:  List all the photographers you might use and ideas for wedding photos in this section of your wedding planner.

Caterer: All the food, drinks, cake, decorations and set-up plans will be found in this part of the wedding planner.

Florist:  You can put pictures of flower arrangements you like as well as the list of florists and their prices.

Guest List:  This section of the wedding planner will have the guest list and all the addresses of those invited to the wedding and reception.

Invitations:  Your wedding planner needs this area so you can put examples of invitations you might use plus the names, addresses and phone numbers of companies you are considering.
Contracts and Budgets:  These are two more categories that should be included in your wedding planner.

There may be other sections you wish to add to your wedding planner.
