Questions to Ask About the Wedding Reception Site

After you have chosen some wedding reception sites you will have questions to ask at each place.  If you want to have a fantastic wedding reception you will want to make sure you choose the best place.

You should ask how many people can be seated comfortably at the wedding reception site.  If you plan to have dancing at the wedding reception you should find out how large the dance floor is. 

Ask about an in-house caterer for your wedding reception.  If you decide not to use their catering services will they permit you to bring in a different caterer for the wedding reception?

You will want to find out if the chairs, tables and linens are provided for the wedding reception.  Ask about decorations and if they are supplied for the wedding reception.

Will you be able to have live music at the wedding reception?  Do they have the space, wiring and equipment to support live music for the wedding reception?

Find out if the site coordinator has any ideas for the decorations and set-up for the reception.  Does the site coordinator have any suggestions for the band, florist or disc jockey for the wedding reception?

You may want to inquire about photos from previous wedding receptions.

You will also need to know about the hours the site is available for set-up, the wedding reception itself, and clean-up.  Find out if there is a minimum time requirement for the wedding reception. Do they need advance notice if you decide to extend the wedding reception?

You will want to know if the parking is free for the wedding reception.  If there is valet parking at the wedding reception find out what the rates and gratuities are.

Ask questions about an open bar if you plan to have one at the wedding reception.  Is the alcohol provided for the reception or is it up to you to bring it?

You might want to ask if the site will have more than one celebration going on at the same time as your wedding reception.  If so will there be enough parking for your wedding reception and privacy?

Find out if there is an extra space where you can have photos taken at the wedding reception. Also ask if there will be a place where you can change your clothes before you leave the wedding reception if this is something you plan to do.
