Choosing Your Wedding Rings

Many women look forward to their wedding rings from the time they are very young.  They dream about these rings, not only what they will look like but how they will be presented.

The wedding ring experience usually begins with the engagement ring.  The groom-to-be may present his future bride with this ring as a surprise.  Some women love this but others would rather help choose their engagement and wedding rings.

Most brides-to-be choose a diamond as the central stone for their wedding rings.  Others might choose a ruby or sapphire as the center stone in their wedding rings.  A lovely idea can be to use a stone that previously belonged to a family member.  This becomes a special keepsake for the bride as it becomes part of her wedding ring.

Wedding rings can be expensive.  Many jewelers report that the groom often spends about two month’s salary on the wedding rings.  You can find wedding rings that are not as expensive but it really depends on what is important to the couple.

The wedding rings should be appraised by an independent gemologist.  When wedding rings are appraised you are able to make sure you have not paid too much for them.  If you find that you have paid too much for the wedding rings you should take them back to the jeweler.

You should also have the wedding rings insured. Sometimes homeowner’s or renter’s insurance will cover wedding rings and sometimes you will need a different policy.

Make sure the store where you are planning to purchase the wedding rings has a good reputation.  You would not want to purchase your wedding rings from someone who has a bad record with the Better Business Bureau.

Know the store’s return policy when you are purchasing wedding rings.  You should feel comfortable asking any questions you may have about the wedding rings.

You may be able to find a store that will help you design your wedding rings. This can be a wonderful and unique way to have wedding rings that are very special to both of you.

If the groom does not want to make the entire decision about the wedding rings by himself he can take his bride window shopping or pay attention when she talks about wedding rings in bridal magazines.  He can then choose three or four stones for the wedding rings and let his bride make the final decision.
